What is an Intermediary
ApprentSix, at its core, is an intermediary program that helps businesses build and grow their own apprentice programs while developing future leaders.
So what is an intermediary?
An intermediary:
Offers leadership and management so 9-12 schools, colleges, workforce agencies, and employers can work together instead of in isolation.
Designs and maintains pathways—carefully sequenced learning, work‑based experiences, and supports—that help students move from high school into postsecondary education and quality jobs with real advancement potential.
Builds and manages partnerships, serving as a single, trusted point of contact for employers and community groups, and aligning internships, work‑based learning, and apprenticeships with what students are studying.
Coordinates and manages funding streams (such as 9-12 youth funds, WIOA, and philanthropy) to sustain programs and ease the burden on individual schools and businesses.
Listens to youth, families, and employers and uses data to ensure that pathways reach historically underserved students and continuously improve.
In our case, the intermediary role means Apprentsix, in partnership with CAM Pathways (non-profit), designs the competency‑based “work‑ready” pathway, connects high schools, micro‑schools, colleges, workforce boards, and employers, manages ACE‑evaluated and work‑based learning elements, and stewards the combined HOPE + WIOA + community partnership model so students experience one integrated system instead of a patchwork of separate programs.
